My next hurdle to overcome is remote access. I'm currently very happy with the video looper. This is extremely easy using ShotCut and takes about 30 seconds per picture. More on Pi_video_looper: it only loops videos, so if you have a static picture that you'd like to display for say 10 seconds, then you have to turn that image into a video that is 10 seconds long. I think VLC is a great media player, but my hopes of using it as a free digital media display never panned out and it clearly is not built for that. I have no way to know when they crashed, but both have. I want to say that they were up and running for about a week, and I think less than two weeks. I haven't noticed an option for 'black between videos' option in the preferences though. I've tried having full screen ticked and unticked with no difference.
